Auditions
You will need to prepare a one minute contemporary monologue for the cattle call audition held the first night of camp. It should be fully memorized. There will be a chair available for you to use during the audition. The camper will state their name and the piece they are going to present before the monologue is performed. This will not count towards the one minute. There is no dress code for the cattle call audition but most campers dress up for the auditions.
The first audition is not a high stakes audition. It is just an opportunity for the directors to get familiar with each camper. It is an opportunity for a camper to show that they are prepared and professional.
What to Bring to Camp
Essentials:
- Paper work
- Front and back copy of camper’s insurance card
- Signed Liability Release and Waiver (included in this handbook)
- Proof of insurance (if you will be leaving a car on campus)
- Extra-long twin-size bedding (sheets, blankets, sleeping bag, pillow, etc.)
- Hand soap/ sanitizer
- Hand towel
- Basic stage makeup kit
- Towel
- Clothes for 2 weeks or laundry items:
- Laundry bag/basket
- Detergent (travel sizes are pre-measured!)
- Dryer Sheets
- Quarters (it takes four to load a washer or dryer)
- Hygiene items
- Deodorant
- Soap
- Sanitary napkins
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Razor
- Rehearsal Clothing
- Must allow for movement
- No jeans
- No flip-flops
- Set of all-black clothing
- Black t-shirt
- Black pants
- Dark socks
- Dark shoes
- Black character shoes or dress shoes with a heel
- Rehearsal materials (possibly in a backpack or bag)
- Pens
- Pencils
- Highlighters
- Notebook
- Any necessary medications
- Alarm clock
- Watch (or cell phone with clock)
Recommended:
- Cell phone charger
- Bug spray/ Sunscreen (for picnic)
- iPod, camera, batteries
- Food
- Snacks
- Refillable water bottle
- Gum, mints, etc.
- Brown Cody Dorm has available microwaves
- Mini-fridges are permitted
- Umbrella or raincoat
- Lamp
- Power strip
- Good toilet paper/ tissues (basic toilet paper is provided)
- Shower shoes

- Blow dryer
