Student Technician Program
About
The Tal Lostracco Summer Theatre Camp at Baylor University offers a unique technical theatre program for high school students mentored and taught by dedicated faculty.
Students will receive instruction and mentoring from faculty and camp designers in a variety of disciplines. Students will explore stage management, scenic construction and painting, props construction, lighting, sound, and (limited) costume construction. Campers will help construct, paint, setup and strike production elements as well as receive direct instruction with classes taught by the camp faculty and designers. Students will also help run the camp shows, serving in a variety of positions including assistant stage manager, properties, sound console operator, lighting console operator and (limited) wardrobe.
Admission
We will accept a limited number of technical campers to ensure each receives the most hand-on experience possible. Please contact our Tech Program Coordinator Mel Edwards should you have questions before applying and paying a deposit.
Students will be asked to share their interests and a resume. This will enable the faculty to address each campers specific desires and needs. Tech Campers will be given scripts of each show and are expected to become familiar with the plays needs during the first days of camp.
