FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tal Lostracco’s Summer Theatre Camp Announces Summer 2024 Dates – July 7-20 2024

Tal Lostracco’s renowned Summer Theatre Camp, affectionately known as Talscamp, is delighted to unveil the highly anticipated dates for its 2024 session. This transformative 2-week program, dedicated to fostering excellence in the art of theatre, is scheduled to take place from July 7 to July 20, 2024, at the highly respected Baylor University Department of Theatre in Waco, Texas.

In collaboration with the Baylor University Department of Theatre, recognized for its exemplary blend of a comprehensive liberal arts education and rigorous training in both academic and artistic fields of theatre study, Talscamp’s participants are set to embark on an extraordinary journey of skill development and artistic exploration.

Talscamp uniquely offers three diverse areas of concentration: Acting Training, Technical Training, and Teacher Training programs.

ACTOR TRAINING

Talscamp’s Acting program provides a unique opportunity for high school students to engage in an immersive theatrical experience, honing their craft and nurturing their passion for the performing arts. Those who choose this route will be cast in a model UIL One-Act play, under the tutelage of one of the state’s eminent award-winning directors. Mornings are dedicated to a rigorous schedule of classes encompassing acting, dance, movement, and voice training. Afternoons are devoted to rehearsals and the actual production process, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the theatrical process

TECHNICIAN TRAINING

Talscamp places a significant emphasis on the Technical Studies program, allowing students to work alongside award-winning designers and technicians from Baylor University and across the state of Texas. Participants serve as integral members of the running crew, as stage managers, and have the opportunity to assist in various design processes, gaining hands-on experience in lighting, sound, set design, and other crucial technical elements of theatre production.

TEACHER TRAINING

For current classroom teachers who want to improve their skills in directing or technical theatre we offer our popular Teacher Training program. Teachers can choose to focus on either directing or technical theatre and will receive 120 hours of Professional Development/GT Credit along with a certificate of completion. Directing participants will benefit from one-on-one mentoring with one of the five award-winning directors and serve as an assistant director for one of the camp productions, gaining valuable insights from casting to opening night. Technical participants will receive one-on-one mentoring from specialists in scene design, costume design, lighting design, sound design, and stage management, providing an immersive learning experience.

Applications for the 2024 summer program will be open for submission in early February, and can be accessed via the official Talscamp website at Talscamp.com.
